JOBLINC
LINKING WORKERS WITH WORK
Get on the road to a new or better job with JOBLINC, a mobile services unit (based ma 35-foot bus) that travels around Memphis helping job seekers find the information and support they need.
The first and foremost goal of JOBLINC is to bring people and jobs together - wherever they are. To do that JOBLINC specialists help job seekers find framing. career guidance, and available job opportunities.
- ALL ASPECTS OF JOB AND CAREER GUIDANCE
- Memphis residents looking for a job can get a full range of career services - from locating training opportunities to one-on-one assistance in conducting job searches and preparing for interviews. In addition, JOBLINC lists available job openings and companies looking for employees. JOBLINC also has wireless Internet so customers can submit online applications.
- COMING SOON TO YOUR COMMUNITY
- People don't have to go to JOBLINC - JOBLINC goes to the people! Because it is a mobile unit. JOBLINC travels all over the city. including grocery stores, apartment complexes, community centers, churches, schools, libraries, and social service centers.
- VARIETY OF MATERIALS
- Find information about preparing for, finding, and growing in a job using more than just books. JOBLINC has videos, two Internet ready compu1er and computer programs covering everything from writing a winning résumé to interviewing for a job. In addition, JOBLINC staff also uses the library's LINC database to find available community training programs and educational resources.
BRANCHES WITH SIMILAR MATERIALS
The Business & Sciences Department has a Job and Career Center at the Central library. In addition, there are four other Job and Career Centers at the Hollywood, Parkway Village, Raleigh, and South branches.
HELP JOBLINC
Employers can share lists of available jobs with JOBLINC, and individuals with training and counseling skills can volunteer to teach classes in areas such as getting training, changing careers, and interviewing successfully for a job.
