Food assistance can include government programs such as the Food Stamps and Commodity Supplemental Food programs, and local programs such as food pantries or discounted food programs.
- Angel Food Ministries
Faith-based organization which provides healthy food boxes for sale at greatly discounted prices in 35 cities (including the Memphis area) through a network of participating churches and faith-based centers.

- MIFA – Emergency Services
Can provide voucher for five-day supply of food, to be redeemed at area food pantry, for Shelby County residents who have experienced an unexpected loss of income in the last 90 days. Can apply four times in one calendar year. Apply in person Mon – Fri 7:30 am – 10:30 am.

- Shelby Co Community Services Agency – Commodities Program
Provides monthly distribution of non-perishable food items at community sites to eligible individuals and households.

- TN Dept of Human Services – Food Stamps
Provides monthly financial assistance to low-income individuals and households through EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) cards which can be used to purchase food.

Provides food, nutrition counseling and healthcare services to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and post-partum women, and to at-risk infants and young children.
