WYPL Coverage Area

Broadcast Service AreaIn order to provide every resident of Shelby County with a quality signal FM89.3 WYPL filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission in early January of 1996 to increase its power and to raise the height of its transmitting antenna. WYPL received approval from both the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration to construct a new broadcast tower and to raise our transmission power level.

WYPL is now transmitting with an ERP of 100,000 watts from an antenna located 1, 530' amsl. The light blue depicted area in the Map illustrates WYPL's primary coverage area, 60dBu contour. This same map also shows our present 60dBu contour which is illustrated in light yellow.
