Lincoln’s Last Days: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever, by Bill O’Reilly and Dwight Jon Zimmermann, is a must for the reader who is unfamiliar with President Lincoln’s assassination. The authors draw the reader first into the Union’s final chase for Confederate General Robert E. Lee; then into Lincoln’s world, in Washington, twelve days before his death; and finally, into the chase for the assassin John Wilkes Booth and his coconspirators.  A well-researched, informational afterword provides more historical information. This is a must-read, wonderful introduction to the days surrounding Lincoln’s death. Many readers will enjoy Lincoln’s Last Days because of beautiful illustrations using primary sources, maps, and period photographs.
